EWES celebrated 90 years with football, festivities and future spirit
On Saturday 20 September, EWES colleagues, families and friends gathered to celebrate the company’s 90th anniversary – a day filled with sport, joy and music.
After several days of heavy rain, the skies cleared just in time for the celebrations, bathing the event in late summer warmth. The pitch, which had been close to unplayable only a day earlier, dried up as if by miracle and was ready for a memorable football match between EWES FC and RÅsLB Ladies (Division 4).

The team featured players from across EWES’ departments, with women and men sharing the pitch in a joyful mix. Extra spice came when three colleagues switched sides to play for RÅsLB, including goalkeeper Alma Cederquist – with her father Anders in goal for EWES FC. A family duel and collegial clash in the same match made the experience unforgettable.

The match turned into a lively battle of 2x20 minutes, brought to life by renowned Swedish sports commentator Staffan Lindeborg and former national team goalkeeper Thomas Ravelli. The crowd was treated to an extra surprise when EWES' Army, also known as Kamrattolvan, IFK Värnamo’s supporters’ club – from a team that recently played in Sweden’s top league, Allsvenskan – showed up and created an electrifying atmosphere. The result? A well-deserved 4–1 victory for EWES FC, celebrated with smiles on and off the pitch.
For the children, there was an ice cream kiosk, a sweet rain of goodies and games, while the scent of freshly grilled burgers and home-baked fika tempted visitors of all ages.

The day became a celebration of togetherness – something that has defined EWES for generations. There is always a WE in EWES.

n the evening, the festivities continued with a gala dinner at Madame Brasserie, where guests enjoyed varied entertainment. The highlight of the night was a performance by renowned pianist Robert Wells, whose energetic playing put the finishing touch on an unforgettable day.

With 90 years behind them – and three generations of persistence, curiosity and collaboration – EWES now looks ahead to future challenges. But the anniversary was a timely reminder of one thing: the strength of EWES has always been found in its community.
