The Bredaryd Resident of the Year award recognises Anders’ longstanding and extensive commitment to the local community. The citation particularly highlights his involvement in Bredaryds Lanna IK (BLIK), the local football club, where he has contributed over the years through both sponsorship and personal dedication. But his commitment extends well beyond the football club: Anders is always willing to help those around him – at work, in the local community and in his personal life.

“Tough, but always gives everyone a chance,” reads the citation. A description that says a great deal about why Anders has been chosen to receive this award.

For us at EWES, it is particularly rewarding to see one of our own recognised for his commitment to the community where EWES has had its roots since 1935.

Congratulations, Anders – Bredaryd Resident of the Year 2026!

Anders, through the eyes of his daughter Alma

Alma Cederquist is Anders’ daughter and the fourth generation at EWES. She knows him both as a father and through the family business – and perhaps better than most. We asked her to tell us about the person behind the award and what Bredaryd means to him.

How did you – and the rest of the family – feel when your father was named Bredaryd Resident of the Year?

“I was very proud, and I think the rest of the family felt exactly the same. We really do think he deserves it. Both our family at home and the ‘EWES family’ were probably a little extra happy and proud for him. It’s great to see everything he does, and the commitment he puts in, being recognised.”

Anders doesn’t exactly seem like someone who seeks the spotlight. How would you describe him to someone who doesn’t know him?

“Tough. And perhaps even a little intimidating at first, haha. But that’s really just his tough exterior. Once you get to know him, you quickly realise how much he cares about the people around him. He’s someone who is always willing to help and lend a hand, even if he doesn’t make much of a fuss about it.”

What do you think his commitment to Bredaryd has meant to the community and the people around him?

“I think it means a great deal. Those of us who know him through work, football or privately know that he is always there to help and does what he can to make sure the people around him are happy and doing well. He often goes that extra mile and does the little things that no one else thinks of. I think that kind of commitment helps create good teams, good workplaces and, ultimately, a stronger community.”

You are the fourth generation at EWES. What have you learnt from your father when it comes to business, commitment and taking responsibility for the local community?

“I think the main thing my siblings and I have learnt from him is to give people a chance and to see the potential in others. When it comes to business, he has an incredible memory, is very good at seeing connections and, above all, looking at the bigger picture. He tends to think several steps ahead and sees the whole picture rather than just what is happening here and now. That’s something I think my siblings and I will all take with us into our working lives.

“All three of us live in Bredaryd today and are involved in the community in different ways, so somewhere along the way he has clearly managed to pass on the idea that if you want a community to stay vibrant and continue to develop, you have to contribute yourself. And I think we’ve also learnt that you don’t just talk about doing things – you get on and do them.”

What do you think the award means to him, even if he would probably rather not have to answer that question himself?

“I actually think it means more to him than he would admit. He isn’t someone who seeks attention or wants to be at the front taking the credit, but I think he appreciates that people see and value what he does. Above all, I think it means a lot to him that the recognition comes from Bredaryd and the people here.”

We have to ask: where do you think Bredaryd Resident of the Year ranks on your dad’s list of achievements – above or below an AIK league title?

“It’s definitely high on the list, but I think an AIK title will always come first. 😅”
