With our roots firmly planted in Småland since 1935, we understand the importance of keeping our word. Honesty is one of EWES' five core values, passed down through generations. It's about being straightforward, taking responsibility and building trust that stands the test of time.
Our word is our bond
In Småland, we have an old saying: “Tesagt är tesagt och tesagt gäller.” Roughly translated, it means that a promise is a promise, and a promise must be kept. It sums up our approach to honesty rather well. We say what we mean, stand by our actions and deliver on our promises.
EWES has been based in the same location since it was founded in 1935. Generations of people have come and gone, and much has changed along the way. Yet the value of keeping your word and earning people's trust remains as important as ever. For us, honesty is the foundation of lasting relationships.
Trust beyond borders
In the 1970s, Kjell Svensson, the second generation to lead EWES, took an initiative that would have an impact far beyond Sweden.
He brought Swedish spring manufacturers together around the same table and founded the Swedish Spring Manufacturers' Association (SFF). Competitors became partners in dialogue, with trust and mutual respect laying the foundations for a new kind of cooperation.
The initiative attracted attention across Europe. Encouraged by German industry colleagues, Kjell subsequently helped establish the European Spring Federation (ESF), which continues to bring together spring manufacturers from across Europe today.
Although the Swedish association no longer exists, its legacy lives on. EWES remains an active member of ESF, Teknikföretagen and Germany's VDFI.
What began as an idea in Bredaryd went on to make a difference to an entire industry.
When actions speak louder than words
Our history is full of stories about people stepping up when it mattered most.
When the Second World War broke out, our founder, Einar Svensson, was called up for military service. His wife Irma, together with her father and three 13-year-old boys, kept production running.
It's a story of determination, responsibility and reliability. Qualities that have deep roots at EWES and continue to matter to us today.
